Judder when taking off in first!!

Spalding

Sunday Drivers
Hey lads,
recently got a 03 legacy b4, thanks for all the advice by the way!
However bout a week ago I noticed that when taking off in first gear the whole car starts to judder and it feels like the clutch ain't biting.
Everything is fine when the car is cold but once warmed up thats when the problems start.
It also happens while reversing. I'm having no problems with the other gears but changing up can feel a little jerky if done fast...
Anyone got any ideas?
Thanks
Paul. :subaru:

First instinct is to say that its just the flywheel and it needs to be skimmed next time you change the clutch..

If you are having problems engaging gears though, then it may be something else... Possible centre diff... How long is your journey home?

Flywheel eh? Does it need to be skimmed because it's warped?
Is it possible to skim it without changing cluctch or is it worth just replacing the flywheel?
Sweetcakes, journey home is bout 20mins and have no probs engaging gears!

if your gonna go through the hassle of getting the flywheel skimmed...best replace the clutch while in there!!!

Just get it skimmed, cost about €50-60 but wait until you need to change the clutch or else it'll be an expensive labour bill, dropping the exhaust and gearbox and then putting it back...

Cheers for the advice lads, just got a quote for €1200 for new clutch and flywheel and labour!!
Seems like a bit much to me.

Living in Dublin, Keith, it's my first Subaru so still trying to figure out where's the best places to get work done.

Where about in dublin,
We have a few really good traders in dublin!

Hi is it the 99-03 shape legacy or new 03-07 shape?

If ealier version sounds like maybe flywheel bearing collapse.

If later model then these suffer from dual mass flywheel problems

If going at it do it text book incl rear crank seal. Below is for earlier model

Exedy OEM 3 Piece Clutch kit e325.00
Flywheel Skim Exchange e85.00
Labour Set Price Legacy 99-03 5 Speed e375.00
Flywheel Spiggot Bearing e22.50
Genuine Subaru Rear Crank Seal e22.50

Cheers for the info davelegacy.
It's the 99-03 shape...
How long would it take for all that work to be done?

In that morning out that evening.

Although in the evening before would be prefered..

Exchange fresh skimmed flywheels off the shelf and rest fully in stock..
