02 laguna 1.6 petrol car gave up could put into gear could hear cogs running inside the gear box but no drive to the wheels so went and got a used gearbox from a breaker i fitted this and it drove for about 6 miles then gave up with same problem as abouve as the gear box was out i fitted new clutch any views appreciated

What condition are the drive shafts in? To be honest your main problem is its a renault.

no such thing as a good renault gearbox!!!
thats the gamble on buying secondhand parts mate sadly...
make sure the rollpin is fitted properly on the drivers driveshaft...

its a mates car just trying to save him a few quid breaker takeing back gearbox and supplying another one just wondering if there was another problem beond the fact that it is a renault and the channce of getting a dud gearbox thanks boys karma on its way

as above..
make sure the driveshafts are ok up at the cv joint end!!!
