knock sensor question

i noticed over the last few days the "check engine" light was coming on the odd time and going off after switching the ignition off and back on
this morning she was going fine until i went around a roundabout near work and when coming off it i floored it, as soon as i did this the check engine light came on and wouldn't go off even after turning off/on the ignition a few times, it feels like there is feck all power yet the turbo is boosting at 0.7/0.8 bar as normal
i checked the fault codes and the knock sensor/MAF came up as usual

would a faulty knock sensor cause the "check engine" light to stay on and could this be causing the MAF circuit malfunction code?
i havent had time to check her again since this morning

Cheers
John

i know that when my knock sensor was on the way out the ec light would come on then go a day later some times it would go when i turned the engine off and back on and then some times it would stay on,

its a 65euro and easy to fit job

thanks for the reply coopster
i must get my hands on one of them
am i right in assuming the knock sensor is under the throttle body, do i need to remove the throttle body or can it be got at by taking off the intercooler

Thanks
John
