battery or alternator

I put a new battery in the car yesterday cause it was acting up and its only reading 11.8 v and 11.5 with the dip beams on. is it the alternator
 
Out comes the alternator. there is a fella in cork reconditions them fairly cheap. could be nothing else i suppose???
 
Is it pulsating from 11 to 14 volts or is it permanently 14 volts?

Happened me a while back with my old WRX wagon. Not a big job by any means. Easy to remove and install.

There is a fella alright who reconditions them himself. Don't do what I did and try do it yourself. Lets just say I ended up with more altenators than what I started with...
 
its a small job to take it out so im not too bothered. i hate electrics more than citron cars!!
 
Can find out what the name is for the fella who rebuilds them in Cork if you want...?

Only problem is that you'll be without a car for a few days.
 
If its the lad down by Capwell bus station I know the spot. lucky for me I have ze E30 in the shed for such occasions. Its like a model T after getting out of the legacy
 
Think that's the fella alright...

Ah don't knock the old e30's.. They are a fantastic car. Have served me well and will eventually get my e30 M3.
