97 sti engine and v5 engine

A guy i know is looking for a v5/v6 engine, and there is a breaker wanting to sell him an engine from a 97 STI, and he is saying that it is a straight drop in..
Now i was 99.9% sure that to fit a 97engine into a v5/v6, you had to swap heads???
Am i wrong or is this lad trying a quick one??
The guy i know is going on what i say so im double checking my facts

your right heads are different

defo not a straight swap,would have to swap heads,bolt patern is offset on v5-v6,inline on the earlier

Grand job, thought i was going mad or something, even 98 v4 is different isnt it? and that 97 engine could be even v3?
