Turbo sizes compatible with 97 Twin Turbo Jap Import Legacy

Right story is, is that my brother bought a 97 legacy twin turbo. the bigger (2nd) turbo blew last weekend and he needs to get another one asap.
The turbo that blew was an IHI VF 18.
I have been offered a vf19.

Will the vf19 bolt straight on and will it affect the performance of the car in any way?

If someone can give me an answer to the above asap I'd really appreciate it as it's just sitting in a garage at the moment and costing money...

Cheers,

You can not bolt on a Differn't size Turbo ,
you would need a re-map aswell.

Now the differnce between a VF18 & VF19 is small i
would imagine ..............so maybe some else might be able
to better advise, but the basic rule would be bigger Turbo = re-map.

Niall.

Cheers Niall. Thought as much about the remap.
Was told that the difference between the vf18 and vf19 is that one is a primary and the other secondary for a twin turbo.
So seeing that the vf18 is gone I kind of have to get one of them.

Cheers for the calls earlier EricSTi and Renno555...

Will try Mc Keevers and see what they have.

Keep all the suggestions and info comin lads.

Thanks...

there may have been a vf 18 in the older single turbo legacys. I have my old turbo at home I'll take a look.

Cheers Darragh
Why can't he be in the UK.....? 6 to 8 weeks is too long. Great price too....

Definately let me know what is in your old one please..

Also tell your brother to try and get the car remapped, running it on our crap petrol will cause it damage sooner or later!

As far as I'm aware, he'll have to change the ECU to re-map it. Don't think he plans on spending that money on it, so it'll be going up for sale soon.

Don't think the turbo thing is for him. He's looking at e30 325 tourings now.
