Alenator bracket.

Im stumped,was doing a bit of matience and i removed the cover thats over the altenator belt to replace the belt,there seems to be a brass bracket at the back of the altentor that goes between that and the air con pump anyone know what direction the bracket sits,its an ej207 engine thanks

I was thinking that was the bracket you meant but din't think it was brass.

It goes on with the long leg downwards, and the face of it you can see there points towards the front of the car. I catches on the alternator/air con bracket and allows you to tighten the alternator bolt
