17" or 18" wheels??

sti v5

Middle Lane Hogs
Whats peoples view on 17 or 18 inch wheels?? Will the 18" wheels catch in the arches with the lowering springs i have fitted??

Ill still have the old 17" wheels for trackdays and the like.... just thinking the 18" would look nice as day to day and fill the arches a bit more.

Id have to keep to the 215 width of tyre tho wouldnt i, or could i go 225????

girlfriends brother has 18 wheels on his scooby, its the withe v5, prob see it in duleek, his sits no prob on them, there 215 and dont rub the arches, o his is only lowered on springs too

i had 18 on my last classic didnt like the feel of them, car would tram line have 17's on the type r and they feel much better, some people like 17's some 18 but my car deffo felt better on 17's

Have 18's on the wagon at the moment....
doesnt feel too bad really other than a bit of tram lining as the lads have said and maybe a little harsh on the road at times.....

Why don't you have a look at the 17" speedlines in the forsale section. I think they'll clear the ap racing breaks. If I where you I'd get them and spray them Gunmetal. I wouldn't go any bigger then 17's on a classic. Just as 18's are all I'd put on a new age.

Girlfriend..Sister..sure whats the Difference up there.

18's may look the part but they rub like fcuk if ya like a bit of spirited driving , i have 18 with 225/45 fitted and the back rubs like feck when ya throw it in to a corner so wouldnt imagine a classic would fair out much better ,

Rolling the arches still doesnt solve the problem mine still rubs at times :ponder2:
[/quote]

I've coilovers, the car is lowered a fair bit and 18 inch wheels and I got my rear arch's rolled about 2 weeks ago and I'm getting no rubbing at all now. Tyre size is 215/35/18. Phil (scoobymaniac) has the same size on his black STi with standard suspension and there is no rubbing on that either.

Steve.
