I have a 1993 impreza turbo that wont rev past 4500rpm fuel pump keeps cutting in and at when engine reaches this speed any one any ideas
 
Could be a dirty/blocked fuel filter.

There are a couple fo options but to me this is the most likely.

Does your engine management light come on?

did you put a new dump valve on, same thing happend to me car hit 4000rpm and juddered like mad, revs would drop etc etc etc. removed DV..problem sorted...
 
Had a decat pipe fitted when bought have origional pipe with cat its not a boost problem the turbo is boosting no problem if you rev it to 4500 it sounds like its on the limiter
 
fuelcut is ECU shutdown to protect engine...

usually happens above 1.1 bar on 93-96 cars thats un-mapped as fitting a de-cat increases boost up from standard
 
Well actually speedo aint working might have a look at that
 
thats the prob so cos of the fuel cut at 180km/h , the ecu thinks the car is doin 180 with the speedo disconnected at approx 4k rpm and the fuel cuts... fix this and ur prob should be solved
