I filled the car last weekend when it was just at the E on the guage. It took 41 litres but I thought it would take more. Tried to read up on it since but only found the following. It's from here http://www.sidc.co.uk/faq.htm - pretty decent FAQ but only seems to be up to MY00 models. Anyway this is what it says:
The gauge is not totally linear: "Full" and "3/4" are about right, but when the needle points to the end of the scale you can only get 45 litres in (i.e., it's still got a quarter of a tank). When the needle's on the middle bar of the "E" it'll take 55 litres (bottom bar on '98 models) - and cough around left-handers
Does anyone know if this theory applies to new shape models as well??? I've got a 01 bug eye.
Cheers!!
