Fuel tank question

I filled the car last weekend when it was just at the E on the guage. It took 41 litres but I thought it would take more. Tried to read up on it since but only found the following. It's from here http://www.sidc.co.uk/faq.htm - pretty decent FAQ but only seems to be up to MY00 models. Anyway this is what it says:

The gauge is not totally linear: "Full" and "3/4" are about right, but when the needle points to the end of the scale you can only get 45 litres in (i.e., it's still got a quarter of a tank). When the needle's on the middle bar of the "E" it'll take 55 litres (bottom bar on '98 models) - and cough around left-handers :)

Does anyone know if this theory applies to new shape models as well??? I've got a 01 bug eye.
Cheers!!

Hello Nodge,

Std cars have a 60 lt tank.

In my manual it says the fuel light will come on with approx 9lts remaining.

I hope this is of use.

Cheers,

Michael

Thanks Michael,
If it was following the same ratio so that would mean the light coming on in mine with about 11 litres left :ponder:

Ah right. I thought it was for the Spec C with the smaller tank.

I think I'll be going to the petrol station this evening ;)
