Gas Conversion for Merc

anyone have any views on Gas??, I've a 92 S500 as some of yiz know and was jus thinkin today is a worth while doin??
is it stil as easy to get these days?
is there much of power loss?
does it damage the engine?
how much about are we talkin?? cheers Chris

My Dad had it done to his 280SE back in the early 90's and it cost over 2 grand irish to get done, the car got better MPG but the power loss was really noticeable. And even back then it wasn't that easy to get hold off.

Don't know if it'll do any damage to the engine but his ran grand for years on it

have see a few over the years!!!
my mate ran a 95 transit on gas for 10 years but the downside was reconditioning the engine 3 times!!!!
also a few merc running it...does damage the engine!!!
valve oil seals go hard and valves burn out regular!!!!

Seriously though, My Da had a big volvo that ran gas or petrol for a couple of years, there was no difference in performance when he had gas which wasn't often, but she was a big guttless heep either way, he crashed her after have two years of trouble free driving, but as I say, mostly on petrol!
There are grants that you can get, but they only cover part of the cost!
Do you really drive her that much that it would be worth the hassle??

My Dad had a hilman hunter that could switch form petrol to gas at a flick of a switch

ha my aul fella had one of them Hunters too... I was only a chizler at the time..
