What's a dump valve?

Well, I know what a dump valve is and what it does, but does fitting an aftermarket one offer any performance benefit?
 
Better off with a standard re-circ one.
Regular dump valves just make noise and can actually reduce performance as it dumps more than a re-circ, so the turbo has to spool more to build the pressure back up.
