Blocking off dump valve ?

I have seen a fieu drift cars with this done ,and i was looking at a lads evo the other day and it was done to that also ,and fieu other turbo cars iv seen with this done aswell .....basically the dump valve is removed and the pipe blocked off ...this does away with the dump valve.

does anyone know what the advantage of this mod is? would this not do harm to the turbo or something?

Is that when the pressure dumps through the aftermarket air filter instead? Makes a chattering noise IIRC. Not sure if there are any pro's or con's but i know its bad if it starts going back across the turbo blades.

not a good idea as shortens the life span of the turbo......

other option is external wastegate but quite exspensive

Sounds the biz alright but ya apparently its not good for the turbo over an extended period of time

Wouldn't be normal route to go but Our mapper Bob Rawle running his 500bhp impreza without a dumpvalve for 3-4 years now. No damage to turbo.
