Well lads, I'm done. Only a month ago when my gearbox went and now again...

Have been driving all day and car was running great. And now at about 0:00 was coming back home from the city when suddenly the engine lost power, and just switched off.
Saw the lights on the dashboard and noticed --------- as boost value :icon_cry: on the FC commander
Pulled over then and tried to start it: CEL light was turning on and off.. like with the connection problem, APEXI couldn't switch on (just froze on the initial screen with Apexi sign) something was clicking under the bonnet too...
Called my flat mate to come with help and because we didn't have the toeing rope, started driving around looking for one at the petrol stations (at 1:00 :wall:) finally we found and returned to the car.
I tried to start it and... the engine caught on! Started to drive it and it was going as usual, except stalling on idle. (no idle at all) then after a mile it stopped again

I have no idea what it can be.. tried all connectors under the bonnet and looking good.
What comes up my mind... I cleaned the engine and the bonnet from inside on Saturday morning... but the car was running perfect since.. and I was driving a lot during the weekend ....

Sorry for my sh1t english, but I'm devastated today seriously.. I love this car so much and it's the best thing in my life. Was going to drive to Dublin next day for U2 concert.. and plans went :(

I know that hens had the same problem one year ago what you can see here http://www.isdc.ie/discussion/index.php?topic=6997.msg84557#msg84557
And the car fixed itself ... so there must be something with the connections or I don't really know.

Help :(

I was thinking about maf indeed. I've got the insert-type, as there is induction kit.

The Air flow shows 1065 as usual on the FC Commander though...(when it works)...

Just woke up (couldn't really sleep) and went down to start the engine. It's working again (starting when cold?) but no idle at all.. must be kept up on throttle.
what I noticed, the FC when switched to the graphics mode shows the map flowing as it is usually on idle, even if the engine is turned off.

P.S. Lads, I'm trapped, is there anyone in Cork who could help me to toe it to Mark Murphy? :(

Thanks Yogi, I'm in Carrigtwohill 15 miles from Cork city . Id like to avoid additional costs... after the gearbox problem I'm fully in debts. Can't be happy these days..

I've just taken the induction kit apart and all seemed right, then I started the engine and it was stalling on iddle, but after a while, it caught up and now it's working perfectly fine... :ponder2:
I will want to drive to Mark Murphy, but I'm afraid to do it on my own, don't want to die on the road

PM sent!

Update: The car is running as new... very calm and stable on idle, all seems to be fine :ponder2:... except... I'm afraid to drive away.. xD

I feel I should take it to Mark Murphy, I won't drive without the backup on the road though. Don't want to be trapped on the road again

Adam Huzzy has set up his own garage in Midleton and he has a diagnostics machine too. He had a type r himself and knows scoobys inside out. i can give you a tow no problem.
Give him a call and he might know whats up Adam Huzzy 085 1059 193.
if you washed the engine bay id bet its something simple. WD40 can sort out wet connections very well

I've already called guys from Mark Murphy going to drop the car to them for inspection.. Hopefully they will find something, the worst thing is NOT KNOWING... :hammerhead:

unlucky peter, Hope she will stay singing but if ya want me to tag along behind ya to adams or murphys there is no bother. Will be free wednesday morning

Just came back from Mark Murphy Motors.

The lads have checked all the connections and were testing my car. Everything seems to be fine :ponder2: Scooby is running great.

It's a bit weird feeling you know there is something wrong but have no idea where to look for the issue. I'm going to test it on short distances and see if it happens again.

Big thanks to James and Owen from MMM, they didn't charge me a penny even they had spent some time on my car today.

Sorry to hear you were stuck Peter!

Hopefully the problem with stay away!if your stuck again give me a call, i think you still have my number??

Very frustrating not knowing what the origonal problem was,
We have to assume that something got wet and then dried out!

I had a 98 forester turbo auto, that ran FWD for over a year, I was about to scrap her and she just started AWD one day,
She had bee with 3 specialists to no avail!
Mad stuff

OK now I'm really pissed off.

I've left her home today and took my friends car to work.. after I'd returned, and turned the ignition on.. I knew something was wrong..
Apexi initialized, but showed no boost value on the startup (usually it shows 0.00 or +0.02.) This time it showed just the dashes ------- :ponder2: and the engine couldn't start.
Tried several times.. and reseated the Apexi FC controller cable after 3rd time, it caugh up correctly.

Now I know there is a connection issue.. I don't know if it's in the Apexi PowerFC or sth under the bonnet.
Just took the Apexi home to warm and dry it up. think it may be humid or sth. I found some residues of the coolant under the dash.. it looks like there is tiny leak somewhere there..

I'm starting loosing control. :angry1:

Sure I have your number Dave,
Thanks mate.

Just fitted the Apexi Ecu back and seems to be working fine back again :ponder2:

Does anyone know what readings should the O2 sensor (lambda) give? it's very unstable in my car... going through 0.20 - 0.88 all the time on the FC commander.

Also when I turn the ignition on the Apexi initializes and shows the boost 0.02 is it right? :ponder2:
