some of the best tuners around are on this site.......

Take it to 1 of them

they will gbive you bad news if its needed...... But they will tell you how to fix it along with it....

as hammie said one of the traders there down the end of the home page they all know there stuff .get it seen to asap just to be sure

could be going into "limp" mode..the ecu basically goes into a safe mode when it detects too much knock. Try disconnecting your battery for a few minutes and and then re connecting. drive it off boost get some good octane booster Lucas or NF go to your nearest maxol and fill up on e5(not e85 e5 i there standard pump fuel in most maxols now) put some booster in the drive in on boost again and see what happens.
The B4 is designed to run on 100 octane fuel from the pumps in japan with the lowest recommended as 98, all our fuel is 95 octane with the exception of maxols e5 which is claimed to be 99.2 but is probably around 98.
I would plan on getting your car remapped, this basically involves a tuner hooking up his laptop to your ecu and matching your air fuel mix and engine timing to suit the fuel you are using, it makes your car safer and transforms the performance, you can get it done now including a an uprated fuel pump for around 850 euro.
HAve a go at that anyway and come back and let us know how you got on

If there is no check engine light know then its not the knock sensor.

So from there we'd need to look beyond if this is the case.

Also fact you have a warranty would advise getting checked sooner then later..

thank s all i m based in dublin the engine managment light was coming on at first then the garage said they fixed it but have the same problem minus the engine manement light i ll try that thanks

mine was doing that even after the knock sensor was replaced..it was a coilpack.its worth getting it looked at sooner rather than later as Dave said.

got it back back they said it was the oxygen senser so hope everything goes fine lol

i saw post on a bmw forum about the warning light bulb being taped over rather than fixing problem!!!
some of those importers are gangster from what i can see
could you rule out that just disabled the light?

the light should come on when you turn the key to position two(red lights on). if you want me to give it a quick read of the fault codes, just drop over.

Light coming on when you switch on the ignition makes no difference-I once fixed an impreza that had previously gone to a "specialist" and all that had been done was to reset the ECU and wire the check light to the oil light-hence it went out with the oil light, but fault was still there.

the problem has stopped for now if get any more trouble i ll bring it in to you s thanks
