Howdee folks,
Is there anywhere that will MAP the standard ecu in a WRX instead of getting a new ECU to adjust the RON settings from Jap to Irish Fuel?

They are all traders at the bottom of the forum home page if you look in their respective sections for contact details. They can all remap the car without changing your ECU.

What year is your WRX? Don't think V4 impreza's or lower can have the stock ECU remapped...

Stephen.

Version 1 to 4 need a simtek or similar ecu to be remapped, the standard ecu can't be remapped afaik.

Speak to the traders as sweetcakes said they will tell you what you need

did something not come about recently that the earlier versions could be flashed? Might be wrong, go simtek its a great ecu!

asked damo at street performance this of my ver 3 ,1997 sti jdm.ver 3 back need ecu change at 1500 euro.found out you can run safely on 95 ron + lucas or nf octane booster as long as you have a knock sensor fitted.damien on hols this week i think.

Think 100 ron petrol was only introduced in Japan in 1998... Or around that time. They had 98ron before that, so you will be fine if you run only on E5....

Heard that too steve

Not your the year your car is Terry. Running on Maxol E5 only and you'll be ok. I ran my 1996 WRX on E5 for nearly a year before I sold it. Ran not a bother.

Silly Q but i take it the E5 is Maxol's 95Ron Rating?
[/quote]

E5 is 99ron. I ran my 1996 WRX on just E5 and it is still going perfectly for the fella I sold it too.

Stephen.

There's one on flower hill. Just right as you come in from the N3...

Address1: Maxol Filling Station,
Address2: Flower Hill,
Address3: Navan,
City / Town: Co Meath.
County: Co. Meath
Telephone Number: 046 90 21608

The higher grade fuel was added after the version 1 / 2 so Version 3 and later should be mapped IMO, I have NEVER said it is SAFE to run the car on 95 plus booster but I have said it will reduce the risk of a failure but not a fix. I may have said it is safer but 100% not safe.

Damo
