jesus that was close but why didnt he drop a gear going into that bend, he was far to quick into it

I think they would go through no problem. The problem was the tyres. they were torn out on the previous stage and the lads had to go on them another 2 stages before hitting the service area.
The other thing is, they're having limited budget this year and couldn't afford the slicks/intermediate tyres. You can see on the pic.. There are intermediates fitted only on front wheels and stock tyres on the rear :/

I know those stages quite well . (Rally Elmot configuration didn't change for years.) I remember running through this bend in my Renault Clio Williams on full blast alright

you had a clio williams, i love them cars, was it a series 1, 2 or 3

Yep, it was 95 PhaseII in full A-group spec. about 200PS. I used to drive it for 1 season in local rallies. My cousin's dad (also my co-drivers) had a Renault dealership at the time, so we had a great support. but finally we ran out of money and couldn't continue. :icon_cry:

I loved this little devil car. It was really quick on the short bendy (technical) special stages. The only thing I didn't like was the strange rear suspension behaviour on the bigger bumps. She was jumping like a mad.
I'd love to start in a rally in a strong FWD again. Maybe oneday...
