Sunday Drivers
just wondering, if a plug lead was arcing off the head would the car still drive ok? i`ve got the slightest ticking noise comming from what sounds like the left hand side of the engine. i can only hear it from the inside as i can`t hear anything over the noise of the engine when the bonnet`s open. the car drives 100%. i`ll swap the leads from left to right tomorrow and see if the noise moves but i just thought i`d check here first.

If a plug lead is arcing then the spark energy is not making it to the plug and therefore you would only be running on 3 cylinders.

If its only arcing at high revs under load then it might sound grand at idle but at higher revs you'd notice its got less power than usual.

i had a plug with crack in ceramic that was arcing to head, strange ting was it only affected engine when you loaded her up

That usually happens from using the wrong heat range.

Good call though Ken, you'd nearly overlook that kinda fault
