Hi JohnJoe I done this on my car a couple of weeks ago using an RCA connection like the one in the link http://www.installer.com/photos/ipod-rca.jpg
Plug the red and white plugs into the AUX connections at the back of the head unit and the black one into the headphone jack
Not sure JohnJoe look at the back of your head unit for a red and white socket like this pic here: http://igirder.com/sonyback.jpg
You plug them in there

I did this in my old Impreza. Im not sure the McIntosh has RCA connections at the back. You will have to pull it out and see.
You can get RCA cables at Halfords.

Oh ya sorry. Halfords was closed when I went to get mine but they have them so got mine next door in PC World
no way to convert sat nav unfortunately unless you change the sat nav drive and software to a system from a european legacy. no rca output on standard legacy head unit not sure about the macintosh system, check my blog for how to remove factory headunit
