Overheating B4

Middle Lane Hogs
Right,

Since yesterday, just as i pull up to park, the temperature gauge rises into the red.The fan is running at this point.Whilst driving the temp gauge sits at half way as it should.I think the fan is running whilst im driving though.

The coolant level is at the full mark on the bottle.
The oil level is at the full mark on the dip stick.
Removed the radiator cap,the water is up to the top.

I'm totally stumped,if it was a dicky thermostat then my fan wouldnt come on?

No evident of leaks anywer & no stink of coolant in d engine bay like i had when i had a leaky rad back in september

Its not running initially, drove 15mins to the maxol & the fan wasnt running when i pulled up,another 15mins back home, fan was running while gauge was rising into the red.

Drove into work there, gauge half way until went over a series of speed bumps, shooted it up as i hit one, then when back on smooth roads the gauge relaxed to half way.Coming to a stop then at idle it rose back up.Over the speed bumps there was a rapid change in levels from half way to high & high back to half way,a couple of hundred meters, there's no way the temperature changes so drastically in each direction so fast,so maybe my thermostate is broken, giving an erroneous indication to my temp gauge?

there should be a rad switch that controls the electric fan!!!!

take out the stat and see how it goes!!!
:ponder2: :ponder2:

temp couldn't change that quick. is the temp really going that high(water pipes really hard/water boiling off). sounds more like a temp switch or wiring prob. if the wire was getting eathed out it would also put the fan on.

if water temperture sensor by low coolant amount in system would trigger fans to be constantly or near always on..

Any evidence of head gasket failure,
Get someone to do a co2 test on your coolent!

b4's not known for head gasket failure but obviously possible by other failed components to cause.

We have full co2 testing kit for coolant to eliminate this if required.

o2 test can be very inacurate, with the tester you're sure of the result

we have a combustion leak test..

my point was no need for kindergarten my feet are bigger then yours......
