hello

sorry if this has been asked before

my car is suppose to be run on 97

I have been using octane boost added to the normal 95,

i am now led to believe its ok to use E5 and not to bother with any octane boost is this correct?

Welcome along Pat mine was mapped for 98 in the uk i have been running it on e5 for a good while with no bother and the knocklink is up to its max setting and no knock
Hope this helps

What subaru are you driving

Welcome along Pat, opening up a can of worms there so you are

Maxol E5 is supposed to be 99Ron so in theory if your car is setup for 97Ron you'll be fine. Also adding a bottle of good booster, ie. lucas or NF to ordinary 95 SHOULD see you safe too.

However unconclusive evidence suggests E5 is not 99 & if standard fuel has been lying around for a while it may not be 95Ron either.

Safest thing to do if you're that concerned is fit a knocklink

thanks for the replies

I have a p1

i work in the uk and have no problems with fuel there

its just when its here im a bit worried about it (esp as the engines are suppose to be so fragile)

so when im here i was using octane boost and now im using silkolene pro boost and now think that ill just start using E5 (without anything extra) if there is no negative feedback about it

E5 should be fine for you then mate.

I think the main mappers, ie. Andy Forrest, Bob Rawle, Pat Herborn would all be in agreement that the only boosters worth using are lucas & NF.

P1 is such a lovely car, custom fit a knock-link just to be sure

if your not drivig hard, the e5 will be fine.

im mapped for e5 and lucas, i just use e5.
next time im just mapping for normal crap petrol.

My car is mapped for 95 plus half a bottle of Lucas.
Ive tried different combinations using E5 on its own, E5 plus half a bottle of Lucas and 95 plus full bottle of lucas.
I get best results using E5 plus half a bottle of lucas. Better throttle response and smoother running.

dohcturbo

occasionally i drive it hard

pete

it is a uk engine but in the uk they sell 95 rather than the 97 here

E5 is the same stuff as TESCO 99 in the UK
You'll be grand, drive her like she's supposed to be driven!
Welcome along man!
Dan

p.s. P1's are class, Our club chairman has one!

My car is mapped for BP ultimate 99oct in the north and since bringing her down here I've ran it on E5 with no issues.

You will be fine with E5 since your car is a UK car.
